The sixth annual Harrogate Christmas Market runs from Thursday, 16th November to Sunday, 19th November 2017. This award-winning, not-for-profit event is organised and run by a team of dedicated volunteers, which includes the intrepid band of Market Makers, who help to ensure the smooth running of the market.
The Harrogate Christmas Market organisers are now seeking community-minded superheroes who would be willing to donate a few hours to this wonderful event. While more technical needs such as security and waste management are handled by professional contractors, Market Makers are essential in a variety of ways:
- Welcoming traders and visitors
- Giving directions, information and help to traders and visitors
- Handing out market guides
- Ensuring that aisles, footpaths and exits remain clear of obstructions
- Checking stall holders to make sure they’re happy
- Watching stalls when sellers need to restock, take a break, etc.
- Spreading good cheer
The market is split into six zones and volunteers will be assigned to cover certain areas – not the entire site. This enables Market Makers to get to know the traders in their zones. Comprehensive instructions are given to all volunteers before the start of their shifts.
Our Market Makers are made up of local residents, charitable organisations such as the Harrogate Lions and Rotary Club, and staff from local businesses. If your company promotes corporate social responsibility (CSR), why not suggest the Harrogate Christmas Market as a suitable recipient?
Even if you can only manage one four-hour shift, we’d love to hear from you. It’s a fun and worthwhile way to give back to the community. Superheroes don’t always wear capes – sometimes they wear high-vis jackets! If you’d like more information, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
